Plans for 2026

Like last year, 2025 was a slow year for the Song of Ice & Fire Miniatures Game, but a great year for Board Man Gaming. The year started with loads of new custom scenarios based on the invasion of the dead from Game of Thrones, including the climactic Battle of Winterfell. There were also a few new scenarios to go along with the release of the Brotherhood Without Banners, such as the Battle at the Mummer’s Ford and the Battle at the Burning Septry.
Break the Siege received another huge update with every castle wall being touched and over a dozen new castles being added (bringing the total number to 83). After I updated Break the Siege, I spent a lot of time redoing the Attack the Vale document. I’m extremely happy with how it turned out. It’s a good prototype for future scenario books I’m hopeful to create based around the Battle for the Wall and the War of the Five Kings.
House Arryn and the Others remained extremely popular, with each receiving a few minor updates throughout the year. Check out this great interview from Hits & Crits with fellow community creator Kullvox about his amazing Milestone Campaign League, which will incorporate House Arryn when the new season kicks off in 2026.
Speaking of Hits & Crits, I did an interview with them this summer and it reached over 20,000 views. Thanks to everyone who checked it out and I’m hopeful to talk to Chris again soon.
The major addition to the site this year was 2 brand new custom factions: the Ghiscari and House Baratheon of Dragonstone. I had always planned on making the Ghiscari as I don’t think they’ll ever be touched by CMON in any meaningful way, and they’re a vital part of Daenerys’ narrative. Just like with the Others, the Ghiscari faction opened the door to create over a dozen new scenarios based on battles from the books and TV show, such as Daznak’s Pit and the Battle of Fire. Check out this great interview I did with Chris from Under the Hedge Gaming about the Ghiscari:
House Baratheon of Dragonstone was a late idea that popped-up after I was already working on the Ghiscari for months. It was mainly inspired by the great artwork of the Driftmark Defenders from the Song Tactics game (and my annoyance that they’ll likely never be released as a Baratheon unit).

My favourite part of House Baratheon of Dragonstone is that it’s easy for most Stannis players to play the faction using their current models and a few proxies, expanding the possibilities of the stuff they already have lying around.
As for 2026, it’s going to be a slow year for the website. I will absolutely not be making another new custom faction until the game stops being supported completely. It’s already a lot of work to maintain my four factions, and I think that when you combine those with Kullvox’s House Tyrell and House Tully and fellow creator Hot Shot’s Blackfyre faction and faction expansions that there’s not a lot left to be covered.
I’ll be spending most of my time in 2026 updating all the factions and scenario documents to match the new rules and formatting of the upcoming major overhaul of the game. It’s an insane amount of work to update over 100 scenario documents and the hundreds of unit and attachment cards I’ve created, but I’m dedicated to keeping everything up to date (even if the scenarios are only updated very slowly).
Hopefully I receive my Tactics pledge sometime in 2026. Truthfully, I’ve lost interest in creating scenarios based around the Dance with Dragons, but we’ll see how I feel when I finally have the minis in front of me. With all that said, I should be having a new gaming setup soon that will allow me to play more games, and I’m hoping to get back to finishing the Campaign of Thrones once and for all. Luckily for House Bolton, their units have been buffed since the last battle report, so they have a much better chance of seizing Casterly Rock. I’m hopeful for the future of the game and would love to see some new releases in the near future. If new releases do come and add new houses or characters to the game, I’ll happily edit published scenarios and hopefully create a few new ones.
Thanks again for visiting the site and for all the kind words I’ve received over the years!
