The Astapori council stood as the last petitioner left the chamber. Bang. The large doors swung wide open. Cleon, a butcher, stomped toward the dais, every step echoing across the large, empty room.

“Greetings, friend,” said the priest. The councilmen sat back down.

“Bricks and blood…” muttered Cleon.

The scholar shuffled in his chair, then addressed the apparently disgruntled butcher. “And her people no longer. Blood will no longer stain…”

Cleon frothed. “Lies! Liars! Filth! You cannot lie to Cleon. You want them back in power. You plot, you… you scheme. You want them back.”

“Whom?” the scholar inquired.

“The masters! Do not speak to me like, like I’m only a butcher. I’ve already told them what you mean to do. But I will not let you do it!”

The shadows of a dozen men danced underneath the chamber doors. Their footsteps rang louder and louder as the shadows reached across the floor to the dais.

The Story

"After the fall of Astapor, Daenerys Targaryen leaves a council to rule the city when she continues on to Yunkai. Cleon, a freed slave who worked as a butcher, takes control of Astapor, however, after killing the council. Cleon begins training new Unsullied after enslaving highborn Astapori youths."

The Scenario

This scenario utilizes the Ghiscari Faction. King Cleon is a very minor character in the books, but I thought it was interesting how many named characters were included in the armies that faced him. The fact that this event includes Quentyn Martell, Gerris Drinkwater, Archibald Yronwood, and all the characters in the Windlbown and Yunkai'i army, it was an easy choice to include as a custom scenario. That meant creating a Cleon commander. The first decision was if I should make him Targaryen, or Ghiscari, or Neutral. Ghiscari didn't make any sense other than the fact that he is part of that culture, but he is actively fighting against them. Neutral seemed like a copout and didn't fit with the 'sword for hire' concept that I think Neutrals should stick to. This left Targaryen, which in the end made the most sense. Though in the story his Unsullied are a poor copy of the real thing, I decided against creating a new unit to keep things simple.

This scenario also uses a newly created piece of terrain, Desert Ruins. This is basically a Forest for desert themed maps, with the added Destructible keyword.

This is a fan-made scenario inspired by CMON Limited’s A Song of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game and is in no way associated with CMON.
