Raiding Along the Westerlands Coast

Lord Rickard Karstark galloped to the top of the rocky hill. The Sunset Sea stretched the entire horizon, north to south. Below him sat a sleepy hamlet sworn to House Kenning of Kayce. The smallfolk who had risen early looked on helplessly as dozens of Karstark and Glover warhorses lined the crest of the hill.

“For Torrhen and Eddard,” Lord Karstark whispered. His unforgiving voice rose for all to hear, northerners and westermen alike. “No prisoners!”

The Story

"Bypassing the Golden Tooth, the new King in the North smashes the new westermen host at Oxcross. Following his victory Robb divides his force to launch further attacks upon the westerlands."

Gameplay & Strategy

This is a small event from A Clash of Kings, but it's a good opportunity to utilize the commander version of Rickard Karstark (or Galbart Glover if he is ever released) and the Karstark combat units. This scenario also introduces a new mechanic, Burn to the Ground.

Burn to the Ground is a lot like the Put to the Torch mechanic introduced in a few of the riverlands scenarios, the main difference being that in this game mode, you score from objective tokens instead of the houses themselves.

I also created a Smallfolk combat unit to make this scenario even more unique. As I mentioned in the House Arryn Expansion article when talking about the Pack Mules unit, there are some things CMON likely won’t ever release because they’re narrative/support pieces that wouldn’t work in a typical game, but as additions to a narrative scenario, they’re a lot of fun. I like the idea of adding a Smallfolk unit and a Livestock unit for narrative scenario to better depict how the war affected so many across Westeros, not just lords and knights.

The Smallfolk are terrible fighters, but plentiful. They are like the original version of the Night’s Watch Conscripts, a poorly armoured and low morale self-generating tar pit. To avoid their May the Father Judge You Justly ability, it’s best for opponents to continually target them using the crown zone or other panic abilities that don’t originate from a combat unit.

This is a fan-made scenario inspired by CMON Limited’s A Song of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game and is in no way associated with CMON.
