The Lord of Bones

Harma glowered at Rattleshirt's bitches, barking and yelping from the other side of the frozen river.

"They just want a taste of your fat cheeks," yelled the Lord o' Bones.

"I decide who tastes my cheeks," the Dogshead countered. "Your doggies will make a pretty new totem for my banner tonight. Though maybe I'll just kick their heads off a cliff and stick your head on it instead. And when folk ask who that ugly bastard is, I'll give the pole a rattle and we'll have a fine laugh."

With one gesture, the dogs sprinted and slid across the icy river, teeth bared. Harma gripped her axe and smiled.

The Story

"The Lord of Bones is mocked as Rattleshirt due to his boiled leather armor, which is covered with loosely-tied bones that clatter as he moves. The bones come from aurochs, cows, elk, goats, humans, mammoths, and sheep. Rattleshirt wears a yellowed broken giant's skull as his helm, and his arms are covered with bearclaws sewn to the leather. Rattleshirt rides a goat-like horse which is also armored in bones. He wields a sword and commands a pack of dogs. Before Mance Rayder made peace between them while becoming King-Beyond-the-Wall, Rattleshirt warred with Harma Dogshead."

Gameplay & Strategy

One of the great things about A Song of Ice & Fire is the many minor characters and how full of life they are. You can imagine the war between Harma and Rattleshirt just from the little we know about their personalities and quirks, especially since Harma hates dogs and Rattleshirt has a pack of them. The dog pack is represented in this scenario with the Bolton Bastard's Girls, but I would definitely replace the Bolton Huntsmen models with Trapper Bowmen (superficial changes is what narrative play demands).

This scenario uses a king of the hill mechanic, quite different than the one in The Skirling Pass. The plateau gives out bonuses (in this case, Panic Tests to 2 enemies) that could help you or even hurt you if both of your enemies pass both tests.

This is a fan-made scenario inspired by CMON Limited’s A Song of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game and is in no way associated with CMON.
