Capture of Oakenshield

Lord Humfrey Hewett hurried up the spiral staircase to the battlements. He looked down in disbelief at the town which bore his name. So many villagers screamed in terror that their entangled cries sounded almost a song by the time they reached the Lord’s ears.

In the distance he saw the town’s septon hung up by one ankle. The septon flailed recklessly as two ironborn raiders disrobed him. A raider with a black eyepatch walked up to the septon and calmly sliced him open, chin to crotch, and spread his entrails across the street. There was a perverse malice surrounding the one-eyed raider that made Lord Hewett’s body shake uncontrollably. He hurried back down the stairs, into the safety of his keep.

The Story

"Lord Hewett's Town is captured by the ironborn during their taking of the Shields. Though shops and houses are looted, only the sept is burned. Euron Greyjoy, King of the Isles and the North, uses the town as his seat of power while he remains in the Shield Islands."

Gameplay & Strategy

While working on the Invasion of the Shield Islands I realized that there were multiple moments from the ironborn raid on the Shields that could be made into fun scenarios. The Capture of Oakenshield centers on Euron Greyjoy and his reavers terrorizing Lord Hewett’s Town and besieging his castle.

This scenario contains the Iron Fleet tactics zone as well as Pyat Pree NCU (Euron has been collecting priests and warlocks from around the world to bolster his dark powers, and maybe summon Chthullu). Having 7 tactics zones may seem excessive, but I try to make each scenario different and 7 tactics zones really makes this a unique experience.

The scenario also contains a special castle wall depicting Lord Hewett's Castle. This castle wall is different than most others that I designed for Break the Siege as it allows the attacker to use its special ability. I thought this would be a cool twist and a good way to incorporate Euron's blood sacrifices into the scenario.

This is a fan-made scenario inspired by CMON Limited’s A Song of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game and is in no way associated with CMON.
