What If? A Lion Still Has Claws

Since the moment he learned about the murder of his kin, Kevan Lannister has been marshalling a loyalist army to reclaim his family's ancestral home. But the High Sparrow has decided to strike first, with the supreme confidence that the gods support his righteous cause. His High Holiness and many devout followers have ambushed Kevan's unprepared army at a strategic crossing in the fields near Clegane Hall.

The Story

"Kevan is devoted to his elder brother, Lord Tywin Lannister. Cersei thinks her uncle is tireless, prudent, and reliable, and Tyrion thinks Kevan is solid and steady... Despite being a household knight and not a lord, Kevan's strategic thinking, significant retinue, and personal wealth has made him a man of significant standing."

Along with the Battle of Nagga's Hill, this Campaign of Thrones match-up continues the story of the Faith Militant and their takeover of western Westeros. This battle also has a connection to the books and TV show as Kevan's son Lancel became a devote follower of the Seven and fractured his relationship with his family.

I've always wanted to do a scenario with a centralized bridge across a river and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. The rules are a little clunky, but this is my preferred way to do it. Basically, the bridge terrain piece is considered as 2 different sections: the parapets and the roadway. The parapets are assigned terrain keywords, typically impassable and cover, so that units standing in the river can't suddenly jump onto the bridge or shoot at units who should be able to safely duck behind the parapets. The roadway is not assigned keywords, with its main purpose being a safe passage across the river and its various keywords. So if you bring archers make sure you have a plan to get them in place at the front of the roadway, as the parapets on both sides provide great cover to units trying to hold the bridge.

This is a fan-made scenario inspired by CMON Limited’s A Song of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game and is in no way associated with CMON.
