The Sack of Highgarden

Olenna watched the red and gold banners swell across the field. She swallowed her Arbor gold and thought of clever Margaery, brave Loras, even that oaf Mace. Then her thoughts drifted to the Mad King. I’d go mad, too, surrounded by a bunch of Lannister churls. The lion may prowl where the rose withered, but it will never survive the dragon’s fire. Burn them all.

The Story

"Tyrion, acting as the Hand of the Queen to Daenerys, believes that the Lannister armies were still in the Westerlands defending Casterly Rock. He sends the Unsullied army, led by Grey Worm, to take the Rock. However, Jaime in fact marches a Lannister host to the Reach with the backing of Randyll Tarly, and together sack Highgarden, crushing the House Tyrell garrison."

Gameplay & Strategy

This scenario utilizes the Siege Warfare mechanic. While I’ve enjoyed the A Storm of Swords game mode the times I’ve played it, I wanted to create a more measured, defensive game mode that better represented a prolonged siege. The defending player will remain largely static, guarding the Castle Walls while also fighting for Objective tokens. The defender must be reactive as the attacker surrounds them, positioning their best offensive troops to strike. The defender needs to use their Castle Wall Activation advantage wisely. Plot your opponents moves in advance and take advantage of already units that have already Activated.

This is a fan-made scenario inspired by CMON Limited’s A Song of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game and is in no way associated with CMON.
