The wooden drawbar shattered. Though the piercing sleet, Jon saw the unrelenting dead swarm through the gate. Run. He raced toward the dock, Tormund and Edd by his side. Wun Wun's footsteps shook the ground behind them. The giant bellowed fiercely, but Jon did not dare turn around to see why. Dead bodies, everywhere. As it had 600 years ago, death had come to Hardhome.
The Story
"As the wildlings are boarding rowboats that will take them to safety around the Wall, the sounds of a storm are heard and a mist starts to pour over the cliffs behind the settlement. Recognizing this as the sign of approaching White Walkers, Loboda orders the gates of Hardhome to be shut, abandoning thousands of the Free Folk to their fate, as they all rush to get through the gate."
The Scenario
This scenario utilizes the Others Faction. While most of the tension in the episode is about the evacuation and who will make it to the ships alive, I didn't want to make a scenario that has a retreat zone as I find that mechanic doesn't work great with the game. Instead, the Fall Back! special rule embodies the desperate retreat as the Night's Watch and Free Folk warriors do their best to hold off the dead.
With the Hardhome castle wall, the Night's Watch player would be wise to target the Others mandatory Cold Shadow unit with the Dead Things in the Water ability since the -2 to Morale might actually be a boost to wight units that can transfer models on a panic failure.
This is a fan-made scenario inspired by CMON Limited’s A Song of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game and is in no way associated with CMON.
