Lady Donella's Hand

"SHIELD WALL!"

The Karstark soldiers moved their heavy shields into position. It appeared as though the Old Man of the River himself was tramping across the Hornwood forest.

"We're moving too slowly. Should we break formation?"

"No. I hear someth..."

Lithe feet sprinted atop the broken branches and fallen leaves. THUD! The dogs snarled as they bounced off the towering wooden shields. The Karstark soldiers poked at the hounds with their spears, but the beasts proved allusive.

"If they latch onto your feet, stake their heads to the ground!"

The Karstark spearmen pressed forward, undaunted.

The Story

"Despite having no succession claim, House Bolton's lands border those of the Hornwoods and they also seek the Hornwood lands. Ramsay Snow, the bastard of Lord Roose Bolton, raises a force of men at the Dreadfort, whom Donella hopes are meant for the war in the riverlands rather than any fighting in the North."

Gameplay & Strategy

Originally I designed a custom Manderly unit to go along with this scenario, but they occupied a lot of the same design space as the Karstark Spearmen who were released some time later. Hopefully CMON will release a Manderly unit and Wyman Manderly NCU in the near future so I can add them back in.

The folks over at Le Bar à Théo have filmed an amazing battle report of this scenario. It is definitely worth a watch.

As you can see in the video, this scenario originally utilized the rules of the CMON beta game mode No Foe May Pass. I used those rules as it was a very defensive game mode and I thought it highlighted the strong defensive abilities of the custom Manderly unit I designed, but in the end I think there is a good reason No Foe May Pass was not made an official game mode and Lady Donella's Hand is better served by having the main action focused around the Hornwood Tower in the center of the battlefield instead of the backlines.

This is a fan-made scenario inspired by CMON Limited’s A Song of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game and is in no way associated with CMON.
