Jon struggled to breathe. He was being crushed by the throng of human bodies, each man clawing desperately to escape the long spears of House Bolton. The Umbers clambered atop the giant corpse pile, wildly stabbing at any man who tried to escape, even their Bolton and Karstark allies. Jon looked at Wun Wun, flailing against dozens of spears, swords, and arrows. Jon met eyes with Davos, who gritted his teeth and nodded. They were going to die, but they continued to fight.
The ground shook. A war horn sounded in the distance. Banners flashed atop the hill: a sky-blue falcon soaring against a white moon. The Knights of the Vale had come.
The Story
"When the Stark loyalist army seems to be on the verge of absolute annihilation at the Battle of the Bastards, the knights of the Vale arrive at the command of Petyr Baelish and Sansa Stark. They proceed to wipe out the Bolton troops surrounding the Stark forces, helping the Starks take back Winterfell from House Bolton in defiance of the Iron Throne."
Gameplay & Strategy
One of the things I've tried to avoid in my custom scenarios is having an additional army sweep onto the board late in the game. Wildlings at the Gate has elements of that, but it isn't like a timer that guarantees victory for one side. I much prefer to have a separate scenario that depicts the sudden arrival, like Battle Beneath the Wall and Lord Renly's Ghost. I'm really happy to conclude the Battle of the Bastards with the Knights of the Vale, and A Feast for Crows is the perfect scenario for it. I considered adding the Large Corpse Pile in the middle of the battlefield à la Bastards, but in the end I decided against just to keep things simple.
This scenario utilizes my House Arryn Expansion. The Arryn faction is very strong defensively, especially against Charges, so get on the Objective tokens as fast as you can. For the Bolton player, your best strategy will be to use Panic damage to make the Arryn units lose Control of the token from failing Panic Tests or a dropping rank.
This is a fan-made scenario inspired by CMON Limited’s A Song of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game and is in no way associated with CMON.
