Escape from King's Landing

When Cersei Lannister brazenly ripped up the late King Robert’s decree, Eddard Stark knew he must act quickly and take command of the capital. What he did not know was that a sinister trap was about to be sprung... and the Seven Kingdoms would change forever. Escape from King’s Landing gives you the chance to rewrite Westerosi history. Will Eddard be able to fight his way out of the Throne Room? Or will the Hound butcher Eddard to the delight of the malevolent King Joffrey? What of Arya, Sansa, and Syrio Forel? You will decide.

The Story

"Lord Eddard decides to tell the truth to his friend, but he is too late as Robert is dying due to an hunting accident with a boar. On his deathbed, Robert names Eddard Protector of the Realm and Lord Regent."

Gameplay & Strategy

This scenario introduces the Model Only mechanic that sees certain NCU Characters finally join the battle. To make the rule as simple as possible, these models do not affect their Combat Units in any way and are simply used for scoring/thematic purposes. Now you can finally have Ned get justice against Cersei Lannister and have Arya stick 'em with the pointy end.

With that being said, Ned is still probably gonna wind up dead. With the Kingsguard in his front arc and Littlefinger’s unit breathing down his neck, the Stark player has precious few options. One is for the Stark side is to load up with cavalry and race to Lord Eddard's rescue. Another option is to sacrifice Ned and use the Honor Guard to bleed the Lannisters of as many of their resources/Activations as possible before they take Ned down and move on to Arya/Sansa.

The more satisfying option is to charge right into Joffrey and pray to the Lord of Dice that the rolls land in your favor. If Ned manages to wipe out the Kingsguard before his demise, you will gain 1 Victory Point from Victory Through Combat and 2 additional VPs from destroying Joffrey. For House Stark, the earliest choices are definitely the toughest.

The Lannisters must take care of Ned early and then make their way towards the Stark Girls. Use Knights of Casterly Rock to threaten any reinforcements (especially Stark Outriders or Tully Cavaliers) coming from outside the Red Keep. It’s up to you to press the attack. Although the Starks are at an early disadvantage, they can win by outlasting you. It’s probably a good idea to have the Mountain’s Men and Red Cloaks out there as you’ll need some hard-hitting offence.
