“DRUMS!”
The Stormland soldiers hastily marched on deck. Swords, hammers, spears; each man gripped his weapon tightly as their ship sailed doggedly towards the capital. They looked for some commotion on the city walls, or ships in the bay, any sign of resistance. There was nothing. The drumming halted. The only sound they heard was water slapping against their hull.
A veiled shape approached. “Archers, stand to!” Davos Seaworth commanded. “Knock, draw... hold...”
The lone ship pushed towards them. No calls, no arrows... no soldiers. Davos’ heart dropped.
“There’s no one on board.”
A thick liquid poured from the empty ship’s hull. The surface of the water was covered with the noxious green substance. Davos turned to warn his son, but it was too late...
The Story
"Stannis's fleet, commanded by Davos, swept into Blackwater Bay and approached the city. The original plan was to destroy the royal fleet and land troops under the city walls. However, the royal fleet proves to be absent, Tyrion having commanded it to leave the area, to Joffrey's incomprehension, rather than be sunk. Instead, Tyrion has a single uncrewed ship filled with wildfire and sends it to leak the substance directly into the bay."
Gameplay & Strategy
This battle is based upon the TV episode "Blackwater" and offers the combatants two distinct battlefields: Davos’ desperate fight for survival in the Wildfire hellscape and Stannis’ stubborn march towards they city walls.
Lannister players must protect Joffrey Baratheon at all costs, as losing him would likely be a major turning point. Keep him safely away from the action, somewhere near the Castle Walls. With the Mud Gate Special Rule, Victory Points are placed on the Castle Walls and accumulate throughout the game. They may go all in for one Castle Wall, which would lead them to scoring tons of Victory Points at the end of Round 6 (anywhere from 6 to 18). If the Baratheon player notices the Lannister player Deploying more forces to one side, adjust your strategy accordingly.
